Migrate Organizations: Move Resources & Workloads | Nife Docs

Move all resources, workloads, and applications from one organization to another.

What is Organization Migration?#

Organization migration allows you to:

  • Move all applications and deployments
  • Transfer all instances and workloads
  • Move associated resources to another organization
  • Consolidate organizations
  • Reorganize your team structure

When to Migrate#

Consider migrating when:

  • Consolidating teams - Merging two teams into one
  • Reorganizing projects - Moving project resources to a different org
  • Team restructuring - Reallocating resources based on new structure
  • Cleanup - Consolidating multiple small organizations

Start a Migration#

Steps#

  1. Go to Organizations page
  2. Click the Migrate button (arrow icon) on the organization card
  3. The migration dialog opens

Select Destination Organization#

Steps#

  1. In the migration dialog, click the dropdown
  2. Select the destination organization
  3. Review the source and destination
  4. Click Next

Important Notes#

  • Cannot migrate to the same organization
  • Cannot migrate if there are conflicts
  • Both organizations must be in the same region (typically)
  • Destination must have available capacity

Review Migration Details#

Before confirming, you'll see:

  • Source Organization - Where resources are coming from
  • Destination Organization - Where resources are going to
  • What will migrate:
    • All applications and deployments
    • All instances and workloads
    • All associated resources

Confirm Migration#

The confirmation shows:

  • Source and destination organizations
  • Summary of what will be migrated
  • A warning about the action

Proceed#

  1. Review all details carefully
  2. Click Confirm or Migrate Organization
  3. The migration starts

Monitor Migration Progress#

During migration:

  • A loading indicator shows the progress
  • "Do not refresh the page" message displays
  • Migration can take several minutes
  • You'll see updates as it progresses

After Migration#

What Changes#

βœ“ Resources are now in destination organization
βœ“ All applications continue to function
βœ“ Deployments remain active
βœ“ Workloads continue running
βœ“ Team members with access to destination can now manage resources

What Stays the Same#

βœ“ Resource configurations
βœ“ Deployment settings
βœ“ Application code
βœ“ Secrets and credentials
βœ“ History and logs

Source Organization#

After migration completes:

  • Source organization is empty (usually)
  • You can delete the source organization if needed
  • Or keep it for future use

Best Practices#

βœ“ Test first - Migrate non-critical resources first
βœ“ Notify team - Inform team members before migrating
βœ“ Plan timing - Migrate during low-traffic periods
βœ“ Verify success - Check all resources are working after migration
βœ“ Update documentation - Update team docs with new organization
βœ“ Update configurations - Update any configs pointing to old org
