How to Set Up Shaarli on Nife Deploy

Shaarli is a minimalist, self-hosted bookmark manager. It lets you save, organize, and share links with a simple web interface. Deploy it in just a few clicks using Nife Deploy.


Access the Platform#

Navigate to OpenHub#

  • On the sidebar, click on OpenHub to explore available applications.

Search for the App#

  • In the OpenHub search bar, type Shaarli.
  • Locate the Shaarli application from the results.

Start Deployment#

  • Hover over the Shaarli app card.
  • Click on Deploy.

Wait for Deployment Completion#

  • The deployment process usually takes a few moments.
  • Once completed, you will see an Open App button.

Accessing Shaarli#

  • Click Open App to access your Shaarli instance.

How to Use Shaarli#

Once your Shaarli app is deployed and Opened, here’s how to get started:

1. First-Time Setup#

  • On first login, you’ll be asked to set an admin password.
  • This will secure your Shaarli instance.

2. Add Your First Bookmark#

  • Click Add Link in the menu.
  • Enter the URL, title, description, and tags for your bookmark.
  • Click Save and it will appear in your list.

3. Organize with Tags#

  • Use tags to categorize your bookmarks (e.g., devops, cloud, learning).
  • Click on a tag to filter and view related bookmarks.

4. Search & Filter#

  • Use the search bar to quickly find bookmarks.
  • Combine keywords and tags for precise filtering.

5. Share Bookmarks#

  • Each bookmark has a unique public URL.
  • You can share this link with others directly.
  • Optionally, set bookmarks as private if you don’t want them public.

6. Import & Export Bookmarks#

  • Navigate to Tools → Import/Export.
  • Import from HTML files (e.g., browser exports).
  • Export your Shaarli bookmarks anytime as backup.

7. Customize Appearance#

  • Go to Configuration → Themes & Settings.
  • Choose from available themes or tweak the layout for personalization.

8. Use Bookmarklets#

  • Shaarli provides a bookmarklet (a browser shortcut).
  • Add it to your browser toolbar → click it to save any page directly to Shaarli.

With these steps, you can deploy Shaarli on Nife Deploy, organize and share bookmarks, categorize with tags, import/export data, and even save links directly from your browser using bookmarklets.
